PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely focus a lens on an object having high luminance under low illuminance. SOLUTION: First of all, the illuminance of the object is discriminated at a prescribed lens position and the high luminance component thereof is detected. Next, the AF lens 12 is moved by each prescribed amount at a time. At the respective lens positions, the contrast component and the low luminance component of the object are calculated. Then, the data of the respective lens positions and the contrast component and the low luminance component obtained at the lens positions are mutually related and held by a table 40c. Besides, the maximum lens position where the contrast component becomes the maximum and the minimum lens position where the low luminance component becomes the minimum are detected. When the illuminance is low, the high luminance component exists and deviation amount between the maximum lens position and the minimum lens position is large, the minimum lens position is decided as the focusing position. |
