1,1,1,3,3-pentachlorobutane is obtained by a reaction between carbon tetrachloride and 2-chloroprop-1-ene in the presence of at least one copper (I) or (II) compound as a telomerisation catalyst. Advantageously, a nitirile may be present in the reaction mixture as a solvent and a mamine as a co-catalyst. |
