PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve both of electromagnetic conversion characteristics and durability without using a polyvinyl chloride resin for a binder constituting a magnetic layer. SOLUTION: The BET value of the magnetic powder of the magnetic recording medium 1 which is formed with the magnetic layer 3 contg. at least the magnetic powder and the binder on a nonmagnetic base 2 is >=50 m<2> /g and the binder contains a polyurethane resin contg. ternary amine, a polyurethane resin contg. a sulfonic acid metal salt and nitrocellulose. The content of the nitrocellulose per 100 pts.wt. magnetic powder is preferably <=6 pts.wt. |
