PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently reduce the ripple voltage in the DC voltage inputted into an inverter circuit by capacitors, and to decrease an inrush current which flows into a power-on switch and a relay in an inverter device to be used in an electric washing machine and the like for driving an electric motor. SOLUTION: An inverter circuit 3, which an electric motor 4 is connected to, is connected to the output of a rectifying smoothing circuit 2. Turning on and off a relay 5, provided with an output contact between an AC power supply 1 and capacitors 13, 14, is controlled with a control circuit 6, and a starting circuit 7 made up of the series circuit of a power-on switch 16 with a resistor 17 is connected parallel across the output contact of the relay 5. When the power-on switch 16 is turned on, the AC power supply 1 feeds power through the starting circuit 7 and simultaneously supplies charging currents to the capacitors 13, 14. By turning on the output contact of the relay 5 with the control circuit 6, power is supplied from the AC power supply 1 through the output contact of the relay 5 to the inverter circuit 3 via the rectifying smoothing circuit 2. |
