PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stimulation efficiency, by effectively propagating natural release light and stimulation light occurring in an active optical fiber within it. SOLUTION: The amplifier comprises a stimulation part 1 which, for example, sends stimulation light Lp of 1.48μm band generated from a stimulation light source 1A to an erbium dope optical fiber(EDF) 2 through a WDM coupler 1B, and a 1.55μm band ASE reflector 3 which, provided between the stimulation part 1 and one end of the EDF 2, reflects natural release light (ASE) of 1.55μm band while transmitting signal light. Here, the one of rear propagation mode among 1.55μm band ASE generated with erbium atom excited by the stimulation light Lp is reflected on the 1.55μm band ASE reflector, stimulation amplification of signal light Ls of 1.58μm band at high stimulation efficiency. |
