摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a bi-directional optical communication unit to permit stabilized simultaneous optical communication in two directions through the use of one optical fiber, and a bi-directional optical communication equipment using the above unit. SOLUTION: In optical communication modules 21 installed on both ends of one optical fiber 1, transmission light waveguides 4 connected to semiconductor lasers 2 and reception light waveguides 5 connected to photodiodes 3 are optically separated and installed. Transmission light 11 connected to the optical fiber 1 from the transmission light waveguide 4 and the incident area end face 9 of the optical fiber 1, which is irradiated with the transmission light, are installed by inclining the optical axis of transmission light 11 and the normal of the incident area end face 9 so that the reflected light of transmission light 11 on the incident area end face 9 is prevented from being made incident on the photodiode 3 installed on the same side as the semiconductor laser 2.
