PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light capable of always outputting the maximum efficiency of a light source and preventing the generation of a timing loss in a color liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: A back light is constituted of at least a white light source 12 arranged at least on one end side of a light guide plate 13, a reflection member 14 surrounding the light source 12 and having a cross sectional shape opened to one end side of the plate 13, optical shutters 4 to 6 formed in three areas on the aperture side of the member 14 and capable of controlling the transmission or interruption of light from the light source 12 in synchronism with the driving timing of liquid crystal, and a color filter 10 with three primary colors arranged on respective positions corresponding to the three areas of the shutters 4 to 6 on the aperture side of the member 14. |
