PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current type speed reducer superior in durability, which can be used under severe use conditions in which the temperature of the rotor itself reaches about 650 deg.C. SOLUTION: A first layer of a nickel alloy layer 21, a second layer of copper or a copper alloy layer 22 a third layer of a nickel alloy layer 23, and a fourth layer of a nickel layer 24 are successively applied to the face opposing the magnet of a rotor, and in the thicknesses of first, third, and fourth layers t1 ,t2 ,t3 , and t4 , t1 is 1-30μm, (t3 +t4 ) is 5-50μm, and (t3 /(t3 +t4 )) is 0.05-0.8.
