PURPOSE:To enhance light responsivity and repetion characteristics by incorporating zinc oxide powder having specific surface area above a specified value in an electrostatic charge generating layer. CONSTITUTION:A charge generating layer 2 contg. zinc oxide, and a charge transfer layer 3 contg. a charge transfer material are laminated in succession on a conductive substrate 1. The layer 2 is prepared by uniformly mixing and dispersing a mixture of zinc oxide having a specific surface area of >=8m<2>/g and allowed to adsorb a dye sensitizer, a dispersing solvent, and when needed, a binder with a dispersing machine, such as ball mill, attrition mill, sand mill, Keddy mill, or three-roll mill, and applying it by coating methods, such as plate coating, reverse coating, or spray coating. The light responsitivity and repetition characteristics of the laminate type electrophotographic sensitive body depends on the specific surface area, and they are remarkably enhanced by preparing the charge generating layer 2 using zinc oxide having >=8m<2>/g specific surface area. |
