PURPOSE:To form an ozone decomposer capable of surely decomposing ozone independently of the concn. with a small amount of activated carbon at a low temp. by placing a heating means around a cylindrical body packed with activated carbon. CONSTITUTION:A case 2 which is a cylindrical plastic body having about 10cc capacity is packed with activated carbon 3 between stoppers 8, 9, an exhaust part 5 consisting of an exhaust pipe 6 and a connecting part 7 is screwed in the case 2 on a side opposite to the introducing part 4, and a heater 10 is placed around the case 2 to form an ozone decomposer 1. Gas contg. ozone is passed through the case 2 in the direction of arrows while heating the inside of the case to about 50-100 deg.C with the heater 10. In the case 2, the gas is brought into contact with the activated carbon to convert ozone into CO2 and O2 by a reaction represented by the equation. When the activated carbon is consumed by the reaction to reduce the activity, the exhaust part 5 is detached, and the activated carbon is exchanged for fresh activated carbon.
