PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the jacket without flawing the surface of the optical fiber. SOLUTION: A coated optical fiber fixation part 3 fixes the coated optical fiber 2 with a fixation part main body 3a and a pressure part 3c, which are coupled openably. A jacket removal part 6 grips the tip-side extension part of the coated optical fiber 2 with a lower grip part 8 and an upper grip part 7 which are coupled so that they can be opened and closed and is movable along the length of the optical fiber. Blades 4 and 5 which cut the jacket 2a are fitted not on the side of the jacket removal part 6, but on the side of the coated optical fiber fixation part 3. The jacket 2s is extracted from the optical fiber 2a by the movement of the jacket removal part 6. When the jacket 2a is extracted, since neither the blades 4 nor 5 moves, there is no problem of the blades 4 and 5 moving on the surface of the optical fiber 2a to damaging it. |
