PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current type speed reducer, high in durability and at low cost. SOLUTION: A rotor 1 of the eddy current type speed reducer is made of a united body between a ferromagnetic cylinder 3 and a disc 15 for coupling the cylinder 3 with a rotary shaft, and the disc 15 is provided with a louver 17 and a fastening bolt hole 18 for a rotary shaft, and the several dimensional relations for an axial length L of the cylinder 3 of a rotor 1, a thickness t1 of the cylinder 3 of the rotor 1, a thickness t2 of the disc 15, an inside radius R of the rotor 1, a number n for the pieces of the louver 17, a radius r of the louver, and a distance r2 from the rotary shaft to the center of the louver 17 are set such that L/t1 <=12, 0.60<=t2 /t1 <=1.25, 0.10<=(n×r1 <2> /R2 <=0.20, and 0.85<=r2 /R.
