The trap is a short rigid plastic pipe (3), fitted as an intercept at a junction in the flexible hose connecting the mobile applicator with the fixed ducting of a central domestic or industrial suction cleaning system. The inlet (1) and outlet (2), of standardized dimensions, are connected through a wider central section containing two staggered semi-circular baffles (4) intended to prevent any long narrow objects, such as pencils, ingested by the applicator, from passing into the fixed ducting. The continuity of the (typically 24v) system control circuit is maintained by two mutually insulated semi-cylindrical contact surfaces (5,6), exposed on the outlet skirt, connected, within the thickness of the pipe wall, to point contacts internally exposed within the inlet socket. Contact alignment is assured by two moulded-in guide blocks (7,8).
