The present invention relates to bow-facing oars. The present invention provides an articulated oar system comprising an oar lock, a handle pivotly connected to the oar lock, a blade pivotly connected to the oar lock, wire articulation means connected to the handle and to the blade where movement of the handle transmits motion to the blade such that the blade moves in the same direction as the handle, and an oar lock mount pivotly connected to the oar lock wherein the blade may be moved into or out of a body of water by raising or lowering the handle respectively.
