PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective tube, which is capable of suppressing the occurrence of microbending accompanying deformation such as shrinkage. SOLUTION: This protective tube/for housing and protecting a coated optical fiber 4 has its internal diameter set to 10 to 12 times as large as the external diameter of the coated optical fiber 4. Even if the temperature in the environment in which an optical fiber cord with an optical connector is arranged drops and the protection tube mounted on the optical cord shrinks, the increase in loss accompanying the microbending of the coated optical fiber 4 can be suppressed. Consequently, optical transmission characteristic of an optical communication network can be prevented from deteriorating due to the temperature change, thereby contributing to the maintenance of excellent optical transmission characteristics. |
