MANUFACTURE OF LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid crystal display element in which a liquid crystal layer is surrounded and held by an organic film without causing wrinkles or the like in a manufacturing process even in the case of using the organic film whose thickness is <= about 2μm. SOLUTION: Plural cylindrical column members 10 for controlling a gap are formed on a substrate 3, a polysulfone film 12 having a film of a polyamic layer 11 on its surface is pressurized and stuck to the main surface of the substrate 3 so as to be stuck to the members 10 to form a gap 13 to be filled with a liquid crystal component, the polysulfone film 12 is selectively removed, and then the gap 13 is filled with the liquid crystal component. Since the polysulfone film 12 is thick at the time of sticking the polyamic layer 11, the occurrence of wrinkles can be prevented.
