PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate a large capacity memory by using comparison data, hue data and a minimum value from a calculation means so as to allow a matrix arithmetic unit to calculate image data with coefficients from a coefficient generating means thereby correcting a degree of change between hues. SOLUTION: Anαβcalculation device 1 calculates a maximum valueβand a minimum valueαof received image data Ri, Gi, Bi and outputs an identification code S1. A hue data calculation device 2 outputs hue data r, q, b, y, m, c. A polynomial arithmetic unit 3 selects and calculates two data Q1, Q2 that are not zero in the data r, g, b and two data P1, P2 that are not zero in the data y, m, c. A coefficient generator 5 generates an arithmetic coefficient U(Fij) and a fixed coefficient U(Eij) of polynomial data based on the identification code S1. A matrix arithmetic unit 4 receives the hue data r, g, b from the hue data calculation device 2 and the polynomial data T1-T5 from the polynomial arithmetic unit 3 and the coefficients U and outputs the result of arithmetic operation as image data R1, G1, B1.
