Radial compressor with radially external vaned impeller

The impeller (1) is cooled radially from inside via a cooling tube led right through the working medium via a side channel whose surface area is increased inside by ribs or grooves. The impeller (2) has internal radiating spokes, which is set rotating by a cooling medium (6) as it flows round the spokes. The spokes are heat-conductively joined to the impeller vanes (7,8), while the impeller is designed internally as a heat exchanger. The coolant flows round the impeller bearing, with both coolant and working medium of the same material composition or again the coolant is separate from the medium. The coolant is cooled by an integrated cooler in a compressor set at opposed angles in radial sectors of the impeller wheel.
