The invention relates to a method for selecting an outstation (USm) using a control station (Z) in a transmission system, for the purpose of transmitting information through a communications channel (m) selected from a number of communications channels. The number of communications channels are subdivided into communications groups (GRI, GRII, GRIII) with the same characteristics or parameter values. A free communications channel (m) is selected within a selected communications group (GRII). In the event that all (n) communications channels of the communications group (GRII) are already busy, the control centre (Z) takes up a waiting position until at least one of the communications channels of the communications group (GRII) becomes free. The inventive method enables optimal, parallel and isochronous use to be made of all of the available communications means for a group of outstations so that the control centre (Z) can simultaneously and optimally acquire data from all associated outstations through the communications channels of this group, especially measuring data from electricity meters. |
