The measuring pipe (2) has a round cross-section outside reflection surfaces (7). A sound beam (6) falls on a reflection surface at an incidence angle to the measuring pipe longitudinal plane, which is perpendicular to the reflection surfaces. The angle is set such that the sound beam travels at a distance from the measuring pipe axis which is greater than half the radius of the measuring pipe.
