The sealing device is provided for sealing the bottom door gap of sliding-door leaves. Whereas a pivotable door leaf is held in the closed position by a lock, this is not always the case for sliding-door leaves. For this reason, the sealing device is designed such that the door leaf is held in the closed position solely by the friction which the pressed-on rubber strip (6) produces. Although the springs (20) are tensioned in the lowered position of the lowering bar (5), no horizontal restoring forces are effective any longer. When closing the door leaf, a coupling (3, 16) is produced between an end-side slide and an element on the door frame. This coupling ensures that, when sliding the leaf out of the closed position, the slides are always drawn out again, with the result that the springs can be relieved of tension and the lowering bar moves upwards. The coupling is released automatically if the outer slide has reached its projecting position. <IMAGE>
