The invention relates to a roof construction element for a thermal insulation layer, arranged below a roof skin, and to a roof construction made with said element. Particularly in the case of ventilated roof constructions, the use of the roof construction element brings about a reduction in the quantity of condensation liquid and at the same time prevents any liquids occurring from being able to penetrate the thermal insulation layer and adversely affect the appearance and structure. This is achieved by special drainage tracks in the surface of the element and by a special tongue-and-groove construction.
