The invention relates to a method and an installation for continuously malting cereal grains. According to the invention, the granular material passes downwards from a feeder device onto mainly diagonal conveyer lines which change direction, moving downwards by force of gravity, forming a flow of material. As it does so, it is treated with aeration, cooling, damping and drying media, before being discharged through a discharge device as air-dried or finished malt. The flow of material forms a layer of material moving downstream. In the transfer area between two conveyor lines, this layer is divided in sections into an upper sub-flow and a lower sub-flow. These sub-flows then become one again. This continuous process presents considerable economic advantages in terms of the space requiring conversion and energy requirements. |
