A protective device (1), for protecting plants against natural forces and smothering weeds, comprising a jacket surface (2, 3) surrounding the plant. The jacket surface comprises at least two components (2, 3), which include, at their edges, folds (6, 7), by means of which the components (2, 3) are joined to one another. The jacket surface can also form package or storage device or mould.
