PURPOSE:To improve the oxygen sensitivity of an O2 sensor, by forming a mixture, which is obtained by adding an amorphous non-vitreous gel to a compound (AO)p.TiO2 in an amount of 0.02mol or more per 1mol of said compound, into a sensor comprising a sintered body of a metal oxide semiconductor. CONSTITUTION:An O2 sensor 2 is constituted by using a compound (AO)p.TiO2 (wherein A is at least one member of an alkaline earth metal and p>1). At least one amorphous non-vitreous gel selected from a group consisting or SiO2, GeO2, ZrO2, HfO2 and ThO2 is added to the porous sintered body 4 of the compound (AO)p.TiO2 in an amount of 2mol% or more. As said compound, for example, there is Sr2TiO2. This compound is a P-type semiconductor and has high sensitivity to oxygen and is reduced in a detection error due to the remaining of unreacted combustible gas. |
