PURPOSE:To form an antireflection film onto Faraday rotation glass for an optical isolator by treating the surface of glass with an aqueous solution containing F<-> ions within the concentration range of a specific weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing F<-> ions is used as a treating liquid, and the treating liquid chemically corrodes glass. Lastly, glass components elute to the treating liquid from glass. On the other hand, Al2O3 and Ln2O3 are not attacked more than said two components, and remain in glass structure because they function as glass forming components as seen in the example of fluoride glass even when they take the forms of AlF3 and LnF3. F<-> ion concentration in the treating liquid is kept within a range of 2X10<-3>-2X10<-1>wt%, and a NH4F.HF aqueous solution is proper as the treating liquid. An aqueous solution of a compound, which dissociates in water and imparts F<-> ions, can also be used as the treating liquid. |
