<p>An orbital scanning borescope (1) is described which includes a tube (2) insertable into an inaccessible location in use and containing an optical system (6, 7, 9) for gathering an image of a feature and transmitting the image to a viewing means (10) located in a housing (5) at the proximal end of the tube (2). The tube (2) is rotatable about its longitudinal axis (8) relative to the housing (5). The viewing means includes an ocular lens (11) and a reticle (40) both of which are rotatable relative to the tube (2). Therefore, the tube (2) can be rotated until a desired feature can be viewed through the borescope (1). The reticle (40) can then be rotated independently of the tube (2) until it is aligned as appropriate with the feature of interest.</p> |
