Image preprocessing arrangement for road marker recognition system for motor vehicles

The arrangement has an image amplifier for sensing the acquired image and generating an amplified output which reacts to a change in intensity between a dark region and a light region of the acquired image. The sign of the output changes with the transition direction of the intensity change. An image output device generates an image resulting from the amplified output and containing a track characteristic parameter in a predefined processing zone of the acquired image. The size of the processing zone corresponds to a number of pixels and is wider than the marker. An Independent claim is also included for a method of preprocessing an acquired image for a track marker recognition system.
