<p>The seat (10) has an inner frame (12) supporting its cushion, made from two side-pieces (16) of sheet metal, and a reinforcing cross-member (20) between their front ends. The cross-member's ends (20E) are fixed into holes (26) in the side-pieces of the frame, while the forward ends of the side-pieces are shaped to form tongues which allow the cross-member to move forward in the event of an impact. The cross-member, made in the form of a round-section tube, is attached to the side pieces by welds, and each tongue has two lengthwise slits with their rear ends separated from the fixing holes by zones which will break under the effect of an impact. In addition, the tongues are turned inwards in front of the fixing holes.</p> |
