A plastic sack (5) hangs from a hoop (3) and serves e.g. for the collection of refuse or laundry. The hoop is supported by upright members (7) on a base. The hoop has a hinged lid (4). The hoop is essentially rectangular at the rear edge (14) adjacent to the lid, semicircular at the other end (15), and having straight sides. A series of such hoops and frames may be mounted side by side on a single base.
