Process and device for mapping a nuclear fuel assembly

The device performs the mapping of a fuel assembly when the latter is being loaded. It comprises a stand 16 intended to support an assembly skeleton and a plant 22 for pulling the rods lengthwise into passages provided by the skeleton at the modes of a regular array. It additionally comprises at least one template 41 providing temporary storage emplacements reproducing the array of the passages for receiving the rods in the assembly, capable of moving so as to be able to bring it into alignment with the skeleton and provided with a probe 80 for reading identification marks carried by a label fitted removably to each rod and means 72, 74 for determining the coordinates of each rod in the template when being introduced into the latter. <IMAGE>
