PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst for pyrolitic liquefaction of polyolefin giving an excellent quality pyrolysis product while a high catalytic activity is displayed, capable of being used at a comparatively low temperature by preparing a catalyst for pyrolytic liquefaction of polyolefin by depositing iron on silicic acid and/or carbon. SOLUTION: A catalyst for pyrolytic liquefaction of a polyolefin to be used at a high temperature is obtained by a method wherein an inorganic silicic acid component or an organic silicic acid component and an iron ion-containing aqueous solution are mixed, and heat treatment is executed in a non-oxidizing atmosphere after depositing iron on an silicic acid component by adsorption. In this case, a ratio of iron in the catalyst is normally 2 to 20 wt.% to the total amount of silicic acid and carbon, and preferably 5 to 10 wt.%. Further, an inorganic support of zeolite or the like may be allowed to exist in the catalyst. The catalyst is used for pyrolytic liquefaction of polyolefin especially waste polyolefin by bringing such polyolefin in contact with the catalyst under heating. |
