PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spray dryer capable of preparing a high purity ceramic powder without any possibility of causing contamination of the ceramic powder by impurities in the processing stages and also to provide a ceramic powder which is produced with the spray dryer and has a very low contents of metal impurities, etc., and uniform particle size. SOLUTION: This spray dryer has a spray dryer main body vessel 10 provided with a disk atomizer 12 which can be rotated at a high speed to spray a slurry contg. a ceramic powder and on the surface of which a resin coating layer contg. a resin capable of being subjected to secondary processing, such as polyurethane, is formed}. In this spray dryer, a ceramic powder dried in the main body vessel 10 is transferred to the cyclone 18 through a connecting pipe 16 to remove a finer fraction of the powder, which have particle size falling outside a reference range, in the cyclone 18 and only the remaining fraction, i.e., a powder having adjusted particle size so as to be within the reference range, is stored in the powdery storage vessel 20. |
