PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automotive pneumatic tire, high in lateral rigidity, light in weight, and low in material cost. SOLUTION: In a pneumatic tire therein at least two carcass layers 2 and 3, arrayed by a plurality of carcass cords in a radial direction, are stretched over between a right and left pair of bead parts 1 and 1, the tire width direction end part of the layer 2 is wound up to the outer side from the tire inner side around a bead core 4 to form a turnup part 2a, and the wound up height SD is made 1/3-3/3 carcass layer cross section height SH, and also the tire width direction end part of the layer 3 is arranged in the vicinity of the core 4 without the turnup to set the number of strands to a length of the carcass codes of 10 cm to 40 or less. A bead filler 5, for making a diameter direction height SL from a bead base have 10-20 mm, is provided on the outer periphery of the core 4, and also the reinforcing layer, composed of a rubber of JIS-A hardness 70-100 and having a width of 25 mm or more, a carcass layer cross section height SH or less, and a thickness of 0.5-2.0 mm, is inserted between the carcass layers.
