Thiazolidinedione (I)[n=0,1,2; X=oxygen, sulfur, S=O, S(=O)2, CH2, C=O, CHOH, NR5 (R5=hydrogen, formyl, alkanoyl, benzyloxycarbonyl); R=hydrogen, methyl, ethyl; R1=hydrogen, cycloalkyl, pyridyl, R2= hydrogen, methyl, R3=hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl; R4=hydrogen is prepd. by the reaction of compd. (II) with compd. (III). The reaction medium contains sodium acetate and this reaction is performed at 100-250≦̸C. The compd. (I) has an activity that lowers glucose conc. in blood.
