PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a glass compsn. having a high elastic modulus (Young's modulus) and a high rigidity (elastic modulus/specific gravity) and capable of effectively suppressing deflection and vibration. SOLUTION: The glass compsn. consists of, by mol, 40-65% SiO2 , 5-25% Al2 O3 , 2-20% Li2 O, 0-9% Na2 O [1/2(Li2 O)+Na2 O=1-10%], 0-10% TiO2 , 0-10% ZrO2 , 0-25% MgO, 0-25% CaO, 0-10% SrO and 2-40% RO (RO=MgO+CaO+SrO) and further contains 0.01-15 mol.% SnO2 and <=0.1 mol.% (expressed in terms of SO3 ) S as refining agents. |
