PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fill ozone safely and at a low temperature by a simple device by installing coulometric ozone generating element within a hemically closed housing case and feeding a DC current. SOLUTION: A coulometric ozone generating element 1, a control circuit 6 and a DC power source 7 are arranged within a hemically closed housing case 9 and an opening and closing door 8 is provided to form a sterilizing space 10. The element 1 holds a solid-state high polymer electrolyte film between an anode and a cathode. A DC voltage of about 3 V is applied to this element 1 to generate electrochemical reaction at the anode. Thus, water existing in air and in the solid-state high polymer electrolyte film is electrolized to generate ozone and oxygen. On the other hand, water is generated at the cathode. Thus, even an agar medium with about 300 colibacilluses is nearly perfectly sterilized with in about 2 hours. |
