<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as an antioxidant, a catalyst, a metal scavenger, a photosensor, a separating membrane material, etc., by chlorosulfonating a benzene ring at the p-position based on a hydroxyl group, a hydrocarbon oxy, an acyloxy, etc. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (X is H, a hydrocarbon or an acyl; Z is S, sulfinyl or sulfonyl; (n) is 4-8) such as 25,26,27,28- tetrahydroxy-2,8,14,20- tetrathia[19.3.1.1<3> ,<7> 1<9> ,<13> 1<15> ,<19> ]octacosa-1(25),3,5,7(28),9,11,13(27),15,17,19(26),21,23- dodecaene-5,11,17,23-tetrachlorosulfonic acid. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a cyclic phenol sulfide of formula II (Y<1> is H or a hydrocarbon) with chlorosulfonic acid. The compound of formula II is obtained, for example, by reacting a phenol of formula III (Y is H or a hydrocarbon) with simple substance sulfur in the presence of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal reagent.</p> |
