PURPOSE:To prevent a ceramic ball valve from cracking due to a joint residual stress effected in a metallic convex section and a joint section of the ceramic ball valve, by forming a slit in the base part of an engaging section. CONSTITUTION:A slit 3 is formed in the vicinity of the joint part between a metallic engaging section 2 and a ceramic ball valve body 5 along the joint surface thereof. Further the depth of the slit is selected to be less than 30% of the diameter of the engaging section. With this arrangement, the tensile stress due to a compression load by high pressure fluid through a seal section in the vicinity of the outer peripheral part of the engaging section may be relieved. Further, it is possible to prevent the ceramic ball valve from cracking due to a joint residual stress.
