BREEDING OF BACTERIUM OXIDIZING SULFUR AND REMOVAL OF NITROGEN FROM WASTE WATER WITH THE BACTERIUM OXIDIZING SULFUR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To biologically effectively and stably treat waste water containing nitrogen by the use of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. SOLUTION: A sulfur-oxidizing bacterium having a cohesive and self- granulating property and having a nitrogen-removing function is bled and used to remove nitrogen from waste water containing the nitrogen. The cohesive sulfur-oxidizing bacteria are prepared and self-granulated by using a fixed bed type reactor 3 and enhancing the space rate of a carrier in the reactor.
