PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a proper shift by detecting the differential value of the input shaft revolving speed against the elapsed time during the 4-3 shift process, extending the shift time to a third speed shift stage when the differential value is negative, and implementing a 3-2 speed shift without extending the 4-3 speed shift time when the differential value is not negative. SOLUTION: Whether a 4-2 shift is necessary or not is judged (S 100). If it is necessary, a 4-3 speed shift command is generated (S110). Whether the differential value (dNt/dt) of the turbine revolving speed Nt against time (t) is larger than the prescribed value A or not is confirmed during the 4-3 speed shift process (S120). If the differential value is not larger than the prescribed value A, the completion of the 4-3 speed shift is confirmed (S121), then a 3-2 speed shift is implemented.
