PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an effective soil improver by mixing cuttings of grasses and trees produced from trimming of roadside trees, etc., with a fully aged sewage sludge compost and molding the mixture into columns by compression. SOLUTION: There is provided a process for positively recycling cuttings of grasses and trees produced in a large quantity by a trimming work of roadside trees or trees in e.g. a golf course. The cuttings are mixed with 20-80 wt.% sewage sludge compost, and the mixture is molded into columns having a diameter of about 40 to 120 mm and a height of about 100 to 250 mm by compression. It is desirable that the mixture is adjusted to a water content of 20 to about 60%. Cylindrical burying holes 5 are bored around a tree 6 on ground 4 with e.g. a hole cutter, and the soil conditioner body 1 formed in a cylinder is inserted into each hole. It is desirable that the top of a burying hole 5 is left uncovered with soil. The soil conditioner undergoes fermentation induced by the sewage compost and is composted. According to this process, the tree are not adversely affected by nitrogen deficiency, oxygen deficiency, etc. |
