Apparatus (2) for delivery of pressurized particulate matter against a surface or target, for use by dentists and oral hygienists to clean teeth, while at the same time having no effect on soft tissue such as gums. A prefilled, sealed, and disposable fluidizing chamber (4) and cannula assembly (6) avoids contamination and has already been approved by the FDA for dental use. Included is a fluidizing chamber (4) having a discharge end (20) of an inlet tube (18) disposed below or overlapping the intake end of the cannula (6), thereby suspending it therein. A double acting safety check valve (8) prevents backflow of particulate matter in the event of a drop of pneumatic pressure, and also to prevent excessive pressure from reaching the fluidizing chamber (4) and cannula (6) in the event of a pressure surge. The invention also includes a tapered nozzle (14) and optionally bent cannula (6). The check valve (14) attaches to the pressure line (38) of a dental office pedestal. |
