PURPOSE:To simplify constitution and to reduce cost by correcting a unit data whose shortest setting data length part error is within its correction capability selectively in response to the data value only when the data length is longer than the shortest set data length. CONSTITUTION:Each unit data recovered is subjected to detection/correction by using an error correction code for the error of the shortest set part of the high-order by an error correction circuit 35 and corrected selectively based on the detection/correction result and the data length by a correction circuit 36. Thus, each recovered unit data is subjected to error detection/correction and revising by providing each one of the error correction code generating circuit 34 and the error correction circuit 35 regardless of the data length number set variable for each unit data.
