PURPOSE: To obtain a system of potato improved in tuber set, total yield, sp. gr., sugar content after storage and sensitivity to herbicides as compared with Shepody varieties. CONSTITUTION: The potato system SH-1 discovered as mutation in potato fields of Shepody is discriminatable from Shepody in the appearance of leaves, flowers, sprouts, etc., and esterase isozyme band staining patterns and is considered to be improved in the tuber set, the total yield, the sp. gr., the sugar content decrease after storage and the sensitivity to Metribuzin(R) herbicides.
