PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm the direction of a polarization plane and to easily match the direction of the polarization plane by attaching an aligning mark for specifying the direction of the polarization plane to the outer periphery of the alignment guide part of a polarization maintaining fiber. SOLUTION: Near one end of this polarization maintaining fiber 10, the alignment guide part 26 is provided. The alignment guide part 26 is provided with the aligning mark for specifying the direction (direction indicated by an arrow A) of the polarization plane of the polarization maintaining fiber 10. The alignment guide part 26 of the polarization maintaining fiber 10 is constituted of a fiber holder 20, the aligning mark 18 attached to the outer periphery, a lens holder 22 provided on the outer periphery of the fiber holder 20 and the aligning mark 18a attached to the outer periphery of the lens holder 22. Also, in this case, the aligning mark 18b directly provided on the outer periphery of the polarization maintaining fiber 10 is provided together. Also, actually, just attaching one of the aligning marks 18, 18a and 18b is sufficient. Also, it is preferable that the aligning marks are affixed by using resin ink. |
