PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic developing device capable of high-speed development. SOLUTION: The developing speed is made high by dividing what is called a liquid toner developing stage for forming a toner image from an electrostatic latent image to a toner sticking stage and a toner peeling stage. In the toner sticking stage, toner powder in the liquid toner put between the surface of the electrostatic latent image and the surface of a liquid toner supply electrode is electrophoresed by large amount in an image area having a large potential difference, and it is electrophoresed by small amount in a background area having the small potential difference so as to stick to the entire surface of the electrostatic latent image. Next, in the toner peeling stage, the toner powder sticking to the entire surface of the electrostatic latent image is electrophoresed toward the surface of the toner peeling electrode by strong force in the background area having the large potential difference by the potential difference between the surface of the electrostatic latent image and the surface of the toner peeling electrode. Thus, the toner powder sticking to the background area is peeled. Then, the toner powder electrophoresed toward the surface of the electrostatic latent image in the image area. |
