PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain improvement in reproducibility of a read image. SOLUTION: A host computer requests internal temperature information to an image reader (S1) and when the internal temperature information is received, this internal temperature information is preserved in a managing table (S2→S3). Next, the request command of reference value data is issued from the host computer to an image reader 2 (S4) and when the reference value data are received, the reference value data are written in the managing table as reference value data corresponding to the internal temperature information (S5→S6). At the time of reading the image, the internal temperature at the time of image reading is supplied to the host computer and the host computer retrieves the managing table and supplies the optimum reference value data corresponding to the internal temperature to the image reader. While using the optimum reference value data, the image reader reads image data.
