PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contrast and to provide high luminance by periodically impressing a prescribed discharge maintenance voltage between a pair of display electrodes so as to invert a polarity and providing a display discharging process or the like for continuously perform discharging within a display discharging space. SOLUTION: In a display discharging space selecting process, auxiliary discharging successively occurs in respective plural discharging spaces 26 while utilizing a first wall charge by successively impressing the prescribed first voltage to plural first selecting electrodes 30. At the impression timing of the first voltage, the prescribed second voltage is selectively impressed to plural second selecting electrodes 28. Thus, discharging is successively performed among the plural first selecting electrodes 30 while utilizing that auxiliary discharging and second wall charges are stored on dielectrics 18 and 20 inside a display discharging space 26 to be emitted. Further, the prescribed discharge maintenance voltage is impressed between a pair of display electrodes 14 and 16 so as to periodically invert the polarity and discharging is continuously performed within the display discharging space. |
