PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten user's waiting time caused by maintenance work by performing the maintenance work in a time zone when a device is not used or the frequency in use of the device is low. SOLUTION: In this image forming device where a specified maintenance work is automatically performed, the specified maintenance work is performed in the idle time zone when the device is not used or the frequency in use of the device is low. Here the device is equipped with an estimating means for estimating the idle time zone from the record of the use time of the device, or the idle time zone is set by a timer. The specified maintenance work is any of works for cleaning the wire of an electrifier, correcting the potential of the surface of a photoreceptor drum, correcting the density of a toner image, and adjusting the coating quantity of toner peeling agent, or the combination of them. For example, the potential of the surface of the photoreceptor drum is corrected by controlling a laser beam luminance setting device 502 and an electrification part bias setting device 503 by a control unit 505 in the idle time zone when the device is not used or the frequency in use of the device is low, and which is estimated by an idle time zone estimating device 501. |
